Part 2: True nature.

Deciding that everything must be destroyed and that the information they found must be handed over to the mayor, Dagar, Mitch and Ashera leave the cave and stumble into Gil and his soldiers. Gil feeling the presence of Mitch starts to challenge him, and a fight in the dark erupts. It ends when Dagar pulls his companions away from the fight and into the cave they exited from.

With the soldiers and Gil on their heels they escape into the mine. Back tracing their previous steps they get back to the mine entrance. At the entrance they wound one of the two guarding soldiers and scare them with a show of Dagar’s magic. This gives them the time to get horses and escape into the forest.

Up in the trees a flock of strange birds are resting. But although they make strange noises they don’t do anything else.

Trying to stay low the group climbs the wall of Boggsgate and enters Ashera’s house to find it empty. The medicine cabinet stands open. Ashera finds a hasty preparation of a strong painkiller.

Then Toar appears telling him that he was too late but that Mitch’s guest is undiscovered and that he put a guard on her. On his way out he jokes to Ashera that she must not teach “him” too much faul language. Ashera runs after Toar while Mitch is going to check on his guest. Upstairs Mitch gets the scare of his live when Ashera’s wolf that was hiding there first starts to growl and then talk. Mitch runs out of the house and into the stable.

Before Dagar can see his father, Holand cautiously tells him that his father is very ill and needs to rest. Dagar and his father have a short conversation before the medicine takes effect.

Before Dagar can leave the house he has a confrontation with Masheth. Ragassa shows herself to Masheth. By doing this Dagar gets a vision of his mother lying on the ground with a blond veiled woman bent over her.

Holand tells Ashera that the mayor has been poisoned and that he will die soon if he doesn’t get a special herb. The herb can be found in caves in the mountain, but he hopes that the healer at he monastery still has some left. He urges Ashera to go and get the herb before it is to late.

Now that the mayor is ill Masheth has taken over the business of running the village and orders Dagar that he needs to make a delivery at a farm and a pick up at the brewery.

With a war brewing and the need of the mayors contacts to stop those plans, Dagar decides to go and get the herb.
