Part 9: Prophecy.

The group decides to use the three suits of armor they found. Mitch dons the one they found at the entrance and Dagar the one from the small room where the rings where. Ashera can only fit the rough looking armor from the room with the mural of the Orc as that is the smallest one.

While Mitch and Ashera explore other parts of the Mountain, Dagar has found an old letter that lies discarded on top of a shelf in the library. The letter is addressed to Lord Mytge but the seal is broken. The letter mentions that a prophecy made by Boggnar is hidden together with a ring in a tome. The tome was brought to the Lady of the Light for safe keeping.

Mitch and Ashera find out that some parts of the mountain can’t be opened with Mitch’s key alone and that those parts need three extra keys. Ashera remarks that one of the slots looks very much like the ring Dagar got from his father. Together with the wedding rings Ashera found in Thorolfs rooms they figure out that they have two of the three keys to open the closed parts. With the letter Dagar found they think they have the answer to where they can find the third ring.

Teasing Mitch to marry Kat now that they have wedding rings, Dagar finds out that the wedding rings are in fact communication rings.

Feeling the pressure of his office Dagar urges the others to get back to the village. Before they go Ashera and Mitch want to explore a part of the mountain they have not seen yet.

Climbing a stair they come into a room. Build into the corners of the room are mirrors. Underneath them are wheels and levers. Playing around with the device they find out that the mirrors are some kind of looking glass overlooking large parts of the surrounding countryside. They can not only  see their village but parts of the surrounding landscape that where unknown to them before this day.

This gives them the opportunity to look where trouble might be brewing. But although they see things that are unusual, they can’t spot massing soldiers or large groups of men.

Back in the village, Dagar is immediately swallowed up by his job as mayor. The new miller and new village guards have arrived and need housing. Kat who is still not really sure about Mitch’s feelings asks Mitch if she can stay at his house. He assures Kat that she is always welcome in his house.

Meanwhile Cyra complains that now Dagar is mayor he can’t suddenly leave the village. Ashera offers one of the communication rings to Cyra but Cyra refuses to wear a wedding band. Seeing no other solution Ashera puts the ring in Kat’s hands, leaving Kat miserable behind.

In the inn pig farmer Corbyn is making a ruckus because three of his pigs where killed the previous night and he is blaming it on wolfs.

Dagar promises to investigate. Taking Ashera and Mitch with him they inspect the dead pigs. Ashera is certain it was not wolfs who did it. The wounds are not bite marks but look like pecking marks. Also finding some red feathers they conclude it was done by the Blood Hawks. But they are not able to convince Corbyn of this fact. It even becomes a scuffle between Ashera and Corbyn when he threatens to kill wolfs.

Dagar steps in between and gets Ashera away from Corbyn. And while Ashera is still angry, Mitch saddles horses and takes them to the monastery in hope to find the prophecy and the ring.

At the monastery the subprior is not willing to give them an audience with the abbot. But this time it’s Mitch who is not willing to step aside and barges into the abbots room.

When they ask for the tome the abbot interrogates them about their reasons. When he is satisfied he tells them that the tome was destroyed before elements in the Council could get their hands on it.

It is then that Ashera discovers the subprior listening at the door. She quickly opens the door and drags him over the floor. She gets reprimanded by the abbot for hurting his subprior and he sends the subprior away to get drinks for his guests.

When they are sure the sub prior is gone, the abbot asks them to remove some wooden panels from the wall behind his desk. Craved into the wall they see a prophecy made by Boggnar. The abbot then hands them Thursils ring. And more as a joke he tells them about the Kleijns and Thorolfs family connection. This baffles Dagar and Mitch.

With the new knowledge and the ring they return to the village. Mitch writes a letter to his uncle. Back at her house Holand tells Ashera he had contact with her elven mother she thought dead and didn’t even knew was an elf.  She gave a warning for  Ashera. Her brother is coming to assassinate her.
