The bodies of the three defeated Wolfslayers are removed and thrown on a cart. Royal Chamberlain Pascale is not happy with the death of the wolfslayers and tells Dagar that there will be an investigation. Holand tells Ashera that Korin has passed away, but before he died he told Holand that he had a visitor who came to see the his dead son and the body of Noklin.
At the little village cemetery the woodpile isn’t big enough to burn all the bodies. Extra wood is gathered and the bodies of Noklin and Julian and the Wolfslayers get burned while Korin gets a decent burial as he doesn’t have the zombie marking on his arm.
Leaving the rest of this gruesome task to the militia, they hurry off to the Brewery to finally get the shipment of beer for the Kronor Eve festival. With a wagon full they return to the village where a part of the shipment is stowed in Mitch’s cellar. The rest of the shipment is dropped at the inn where at that moment Corbyn is complaining about the mayor to the Royal Chamberlain. To mollify Corbyn and the Chamberlain Dagar offers them a drink from the new beer. The Chamberlain lets slip that the Grand Duke will be expected to arrive the next morning. Meanwhile Dagar hears that Corbyn has paid the remaining Wolfslayer to hunt the wolf pack. Hearing this Ashera is not happy, as she is still hoping she can bond with the pack like in her dream.
While everybody is doing his own business Mitch and Kat are making preparations for his fathers and uncle’s visit. Because most of the house is packed with foodstuff, Mitch and Kat move the food to the cellar. Later Mitch and Cyra in the presence of Dagar haggle over the price of a cart load of weapons.
Then the Bloodhawks pay the village a visit. Mitch, Ashera and Maxwell start to hunt them down bringing the whole village out. Aluin memorizes a childrens song about the Bloodhawks and the way to scare them off is by making a flute from holly wood. The birds leave the village missing a few of their fellows due to bullets.
Kat has made a dinner for the group. While eating Dagar gets out the note from the Pidgeon man. With all the information they have gathered they decipher the note and find out the names of the group that is working with Gil and Masheth.
After dinner Ashera and Dagar still want to explore the mountain but Mitch tells them to get a good night sleep first and meet back at his house at first light. Before the village is awake they enter the cellar to finally explore the closed sections.
With all the rings now present they open the portal room. In a wallsafe they find the portal lock. They open the portal to find an entrance to and old burial tomb. As they investigate the caskets, they find themselves in the Kleijns family tomb. Leading all the way up they come to a closed stone door with the symbol of the mountain on it. On the other side of the door they hear two voices trying to enter the tomb.
They decide to leave them for now as they assume nobody will be able to enter a portal door without the keys and head back. They unlock the elevator and explore the lower regions of the mountain.
