From the books of Chigarius, Boggnar’s scribe.
This morning we got attacked through the portal. Our watchful Captain Wellston defeated the attackers. However unbeknownst to him and the soldiers a drow assassin also entered under the cloak of invisibility. He went straight for the General’s room and tried to murder him amidst the chaos. Before the drow could strike the General must have gotten a sign from our Lord Toar. He noticed the assassin in time to prevent his poisoned attack. Together with captain Thursill who rushed to his aid he got rid of the filth.
Later that hour the Crowsnest spotted a small orc army across the river, heading towards the Mountain. Soon it became clear that they were not alone. In their wake we spotted the first wave of the enemies army. Masses of the corrupted cousins of the orcs, goblins, armed to the teeth. Foul trolls bred from the dark caves were marching among them. And on a spawn created from nightmares, their evil General flew above them.
Our worst fears have become true. Ravensdale has fallen.
The General ordered the troops to ride out and meet the enemy on the battle field. I pray to our Lord Toar that he will prevail.
From the Crowsnest I could oversee the whole battle. Drows attacked the orcs from the flank. And those pesky goblins were closing in on them. The main enemy army was fanning out, closing off the orcs escape over the bridge. Without thinking Captain Thursill rode out with his Worg company to keep the way open for his brethren. Captain Wellston took command of the barges and, under the protection of our archers, went across the river to offer the orcs another means of escape.
A group of trolls was closing in on the orcs under protection of their archers. Our arrows couldn’t find any enemy and we suspected that there was magic in play. The General also seemed to suspect it because he took over command of the ballista on our side of the river and rapidly shot and reloaded the machine. Being shot by massive bolts must have interrupted the enemy magician because a shot from captain Thursill’s mighty bow finally hit and killed it. A cheer could be heard through the Crowsnest.
Captain Thursill and his troop of Worgs quickly destroyed the cave spawn, scaring many goblin archers who fled the battle. This gave the orcs the opportunity to board the barges. Seeing this, the enemy General took to the sky on his nightmare spawn to rout his forces. Our General, still with his hands on the ballista, rapidly began to shoot bolts at the beast, wounding it several times untill it began spiralling down.
Our forces at the bridge were under a lot of pressure. To relieve them the General ordered the cavalry to charge. This went horribly wrong as the enemy had deployed other magicians, hidden in their forces. They decimated the charge and most of our cavalry.
Then everybody in the Crowsnest became quiet when we saw the enemy commander head straight for our General after leaving his beast dying in the riverbank. We held our breaths when Boggnar ordered his forces to stand down and step out from between them, to meet the enemy for a man to man fight. Steel met steel. All on the battlefield went still to see these two fight. We feared for the life of our General. But he showed us that the enemy was no match for him, even withstanding a firery attack. The enemy troops that where close fled the battle when they saw their commander fall and his head cleaved off.
Giving himself no time to spare the General ordered all his troops back and set fire to the bridge while Thursill and his remaining troops sped across it, finally returning after one last deadly charge across the enemy hordes. We succeeded in cutting off the advance of the enemy… For the time being.
The enemy has set up a camp a mile away from Skagg, that is still under siege.
Our men sing about the man to man battle of our General and The Battle of the Bridge. Morale is good.
The orc commander acknowledged that Ravensdale has fallen and that what is left of the defending forces under command of General Hussmen is making its way to the Mountain. And right when everybody is making up for the night, councilor Jarro arrives from Shoglatage. He has some bad news.

GM note: It is holiday time and we are missing a player. So I use something I already did in part 6 but instead of go forward, we go back in time. Mitch is now General Boggnar. Ashera has stepped into the skin of Thursill and Wellstone is no one else than Maxwell. This is also a good time to show them some of the mountains secrets and features. And to teach them a bit about the history of this land.
